probably around the £250 mark but that does not take into account time ,raw steel is cheep ,so a few original parts ,gearbox ,hop ,barrel , mags ,consumables (abraisives etc) and stuff.wouldent even consider makeing another for less than £1500 if that gives a time cost into the equasion.and ive got a family to get to know again, and after that 3 sterling's to make before i even consider anything else .... except maybe a lewis gun.

Yes, very good! How did you do that?

BTW, have you considered stripping and re-dyeing/oiling the thompson stock to make it look more real? I've just done my Marushin M1 carbine and I'm hugely happy with the result!

the sten is of my own creation from scratch, pre dates the agm and viva by about a year .the spring is made of radioused wire segments welded to a rod connected to the cocking handle at one end and to a fire selector ot the rear ,this gives safe ,single and full auto selection by moveing the cocking handle forward or backward.the bolt also moves in the ejection port at the same time.it uses an m14 box with the standard trigger sawn of and remotley activated by a rod to the sten trigger.this allows you to use the standard m14 selector bar at the back of the gearbox to be actioned by the aforementioned selecta mechanism.can post some pics if your interested but im going to werk soon so it will have to wait till tomorrow.was going to do a run of them but when agm made them for £150 there was no way i could compete so i shelved the idear.the thompson is a marui and yes the stock is on the list of thigs to do urgent.

That sounds very cool!

I guess as a result the receiver is slightly wider than the one in the AGM and VIVA sten as I doubt there'd be room for the semi auto mech in there?

41.5 mm wide on the main tube ,the real compromise is the trigger housing under the main tube is longer and wider to accomadate the standard motor layout ,ive got a full set of instructions somewhere ,it gives a full stip down,as i said i was going to start production ,the pictured sten is the second prototype ,the first production model is shelved in my shed not fully finished as i was aiming at £350 and when agm came out it sort of all got cancelled.its full steel construction stick bat in the stock adjustable hop etc.

Well there's a guy in NZ looking for a semi-auto only sten and the AGM one may not be around forever... so you may not have to keep it shelved forever!

those with eagle eyes will note that it uses thompson mags ,the agm mp40 was relatively new when i made this one and i was unaware that the mags were a better match ,plus i had thompson mags kicking about to play with.the king arms 110 round thompson mags make it a verry playable gun even on open days.
